The Plant Protection Society of Serbia is an association of the scientests and experts in plant protection of cultivated plants and forests in Serbia. The Society was founded in 1954. Our primary goal is permanent education and improvement in all areas of plant protection, mainly through organising events and conferences, as well as publishing.
Founded on 4th November, 1954, the Society celebrated fifty years of its existence in 2004 by organising V Plant Protection Congress, on which occasion there was a detailed overview of all the activities and circumstances in which the Society had acted and influenced the field of plant protection throughout this period. The Society coordinates its activities in all the regions of Serbia. It has been organised teritorially into regional units and topically into sections. The bodies of the Society consist of active members, regularly elected to four-year terms. The bodies are: Council, Main Board, Supervising Board and Ethics Committee. The head of the Society is the President, also elected to a four-year term. The current President (2016 – 2019) is Dr Brankica Tanović. The Deputy President is Dr Goran Aleksić. Administrative tasks are performed by the secretary of the Society and professional staff. The Secretary of the Society is Jelena Ćetenović Acković.

Regional units of the Society are organised teritorially, according to the statutary rules. Active units are:

• Zapadnobačka

• Jablanička
Active Body of each regional unit consist of a President and four other members. The President of a
unit has a mandate to participate in the Main Board of the Society. Each active body delegates three
members to the Coucil of the Society.

Organised by relevant topics, Sections operate throughout the whole of Serbia. Statutary rules
define the following sections:

– Entomology Section;
– Phytopathology Section;
– Herbology Section;
– Phytopharmacy and Toxicology Section.

Council is the highest body of the Society. It consists of the presidents, along with the two active

Main Board of the Society is an executive body, responsible for the management of the Society
according to the statutary rules. Main Board consists of 13 members – 12 elected members and the
President of the Society. The President of the Society is also the President of the Main Board, while
the Deputy President is an elected member of the Main Board. Main Board is elected to a four-year
term.

The main purpose of the Supervising Board is to monitor the finances and funding of the Society.

Elected on 22nd September, 2016, the Ethics Committee consists of the following members:

Ethics Committee deals with complaints and ensures that the Code of Ethics, as well as Statutary
Rules are adhered to.
